For those interested in getting their 007 MK1 a step or two closer in detail to the 009 without sacrificing the 007 tonality, I recommend trying Sylania or GE Fat Bottle 6CA7 NOS tubes.   They have the biggest soundstage of all the EL34's and are the brightest and most detailed of all the EL34's I have tried by a good margin.  They are for certain the "least warm" of all the EL34's I have tried and the most dynamic.  They really bring out the best in the BHSE 007 combination.

As an aside- they are the worst tubes for the 009 which need that thickness element.

What's the best match for the 009 then? Thanks

i think he's asking which EL34 tubes are the best match. i like the Shuguang Treasure 6CA7 among current production tubes.

Hi Justin, that's great you just provided an "official" opinion on this. Can you describe in details? In what aspects the Shuguang prevails? and would there be an upgrade option for tested/matched Shuguang tubes on the current batch of BHSE?

I'm fine.  I knew going into this it would be a long wait.  I'm sure it will be worth it.

^ I think 'Gloria', (not the Van Morrison one), will capture the anticipated moment nicely while serving as an homage to my DAC . . . . lol . . .

Julia Fischer's Bach Concertos was always the most amazing-sounding CD on my previous OII/BHSE system. Truly and absolutely surreal, I highly recommend it for anyone who likes Bach (or just Baroque/classical in general) and will have an OII MKI paired with the BHSE. Play track 8 which will blow your mind.

BTW, what I'm looking for is more weight and body on the bottom end, a bit more meat in the mids while not compromising on the top end
