Does anyone know of an adapter for the original He400 to convert that to a 2.5mm female so I can use a very expensive pair of balanced cables I own with them?

I could always tear it apart and install 2.5mm females on the cans... but I have owned these he400 for a number of years and I want to leave them in their original state since I'm rather fond of them.

I guess next step would be to have some smc connector balanced cables made... but $$$$$$

cheers!

Aloha Ralph! Did you ever get that sorted out? I just converted mine from mini coax to 3.5mm jacks. You can see mine are far from pristine anyway LOL. But they keep on going after 8 years and they're glorious in balanced mode! I hope you got that nice cable adapted.

If you search ebay for
male 2.5mm to 3.5mm female adapter
They sell the adapters for $2.25 Hifiman used to ship some models with this type, but I don't know if they stock them anymore.

Not sure I follow? @waynew's post was about modifying the socket itself on the headphone from SMC/coax used in previous generations of HiFiMAN headphones to 3.5mm.

This 5 pack was less than $10 on Amazon. Good luck with your 560s!

That's it. I drilled out the coax and widened the holes just enough to screw those in. Glue on the threads for good measure. Good luck.
