Short of equalizing, the only pads that did it without taking too much down or making the bass boomy is the Lambskin fenstrated (perforated) pads. Without melting down a credit card, you can get pleather versions with perforations for like $16 to try them out instead of $90 for the Dekoni ones. I'd highly recommend using an equalizer to do it though. It's so simple to drop it down without spending money. 6khz, 8khz, or 10khz are the most common offenders. Just bumping one down 2-4db at a time until it sounds just right to you and the type of music you listen to.
