as the title says a wide and large soundstage and positional resolution to me are some of the most important things to me in a headphone and due to that am willing to upgrade if the HE1000 are better than the hd800 in that regard please help kayandjohn said they are and hes quite reputable i suppose but since its 3000 dollars not even counting the 1600 dollar amp i wanna be sure

Thanks i will really appreciate the help

I currently own both and I would have to disagree that the HE1000 sound stage/image better. In fact I would go as far as to say the HD800 are far superior in that regards. My current system is Auralic Vega->Auralic Taurus mk2-> balanced into HD800 (copper litz cable)  / HE1000 (cardas clear/silver dragon cable).

so your saying I should just stick with the hd800 if I value my sound stage and imaging because i agree in the fact that their amazing in that aspect and I cant imagine how the he 1000 would one up them

I actually heard @kayandjohn's HE1000 and HD 800. The HE1000 is more three-dimensional, but I'm not sure if it's wider or has better imaging. Personally, I don't care much about soundstage in headphones, since they all have tiny soundstage compared to the real thing. (Think live performances or speakers filling a room with sound instead of tiny speakers sitting next to your ears.)

The HE1000 sound stage is different but just as good as HD800 IMO. Maybe a bit less width but more height. It can be kind of weird to feel you're below one instrument and on top of another sometimes though.

I actually find the HD800 more 3d sounding then the HE1000. Overall I do agree the HE1000 have more height which I find odd coming from the HD800 but less width and I find it easier to differentiate/ pin point sounds/instruments with the HD800.

I pretty much agree with everything said above. I own the HD800 and HE1000 as well and the lateral soundstage and imaging of the HD800 is larger although at times I would say it is too large.
