Not sure if I posted this in the right place so mods feel free to reallocate it.
My question is whether anyone is using some kind of converter to extract the digital feed in a HDMI link and then send it to a SPDIF output. I am looking for a good and inexpensive item that someone with hands on experience can recommend.
I am looking at my DVD player and laptop and keep wondering how I can convert their HDMI output to something that I can feed to my DAC. I read somewhere that HDMI can handle up to 192KHz. So I am wondering if converting the HDMI signal from a laptop could possibly provide me with a way to get 192KHz files playing from a laptop without having to go the USB route.
Anyone who has experimented with this, or had some handy hints and worthwhile advise for me?
