Hello

I really love what the Sennheisers do but i wish they had more extended Bass , therefore looking for headphones that can produce a wide soundstage and deliver a deep bass - budget up to £5k

thanks in advance

You should try the Hifiman Arya, soundstage is better on the 800s but the bass on the Arya is better with almost the same clarity.

Second the Arya. They're not basshead headphones but they have great extension and punch. And a great crowd-pleaser and all-arounder.

Focal Clear MG also, punchy bass.

Or you could use an HD800 with XBass (on iFi amps). The XBass will fix the HD800 and any other headphone that needs a little help with the lows.

I have the ifi ican pro with the xbass and use it on the Senns , after youtubeing all day i have taken the plunge and ordered the Arya, i see it does not come with a 4 pin balanced cable that i use on the Hd800s , has anyone used a 4pin with the Arya or is the standard good enough

Many thanks

It won't be HD800 anymore. For slightly added punch look at HEKV2, but it's not night and day difference in bass, more like improved version of Arya.

soundstage and bass are difficult things to get together. Your best bet is to try a IEM for that Imo.

Well i have only had the Arya for 24hrs and i must say im mighty impressed , i wont give a detailed review but the soundstage is impressive , the highs are a bit sparkly , lovely midrange and the bass extension is what im looking for when playing rock /pop music
Im sure they will sound better in a few days time , thanks for the recommendations

Hifiman Susvara or Abyss AB-1266.

Subwoofer backpack or real subwoofer will do the job. HE-1 is kind of like a HD800 with extended bass. Maybe the HE90 is an option also. Audeze LCD-X is another one that seems to be getting some love.

I borrowed a Lcd xc from a friend for a few weeks and honestly i didn't like it (the lcd x maybe better but im sure its similar )My Hd800s were more to my liking and even when i A/B the 2 headphones my friend agreed that he to preferred the Sennheiser. I love everything the Senns do , just wish they had deep Bass , that to me would be my perfect headphone
I still prefer the Hd800s to the Arya on 70% of my listening , but on Rock and Pop , initial impressions are i really like the extended bass that the Arya delivers , therefore i think they are a keeper
Just to go off tangent regarding quality ,Sennheiser feels like an Omega watch and Hifiman feels like a Tissot , initially not very impressed (given similar pricing)
However its all about the SQ and so far im very very pleased with Arya - will let it burn in more for a few more days and i have just ordered a 4 pin xlr aftermarket cable for it
