Ever since I own a pair a DT990 my trusty old HD600 with cardas cable is eating some dust in it's nice case. I was thinking of using the cardas cable in the DT990, is it worth "destroying" the hd6x0 cardas cable?

I would say no. Sell them and get the right one.
