Well...my wife can answer that!

For the last week or so I've been comparing an HD600 and HD580. Is it me or HD580 has bigger bloated bass then HD600? I thought HD600's bass was well controled while HD580's low end was just overpowering.

Is it just me?

It's just you...

My 580 has nice tight, punchy bass...which is probably due to my amp.

if you think the 580 has bloated bass, only stick with the HD600 or Grados!!

The differences between the HD580 and 600 are small: their main difference is the grills. Since the 600 has grills that are more open, it has some greater airiness and slightly less bass then the 580 IMO. Could be something with your amp/source that makes the 580s even bassier. I've never considered the 580s bass heavy, but maybe that's just me

Your crazy! The difference between the 580 and 600 is so small as to hardly merit a post about it.

I can't tell the difference between the HD580 with grilles and without (which is essentially the only difference between the two).

Me either, I just performed this test while the 580s were on my ears. I could discern no difference between grills and no grills... Makes me wonder if the 600 grill upgrade is more for appearance.

They always sounded the same to me. In fact the 600 should have been called the 580 mk2. New clothes don't warrant a new number.

Actually,I'm right now listening with HD 580s and that's exactly what I was thinking 5 min ago.I think they sound darker than the HD 600,and they are not as enjoyable for me.

i find the better the source and amp, the more differences appear in favour of the HD600.
