It seems like you're implying that the Schiit Asgard is not a solid state amp. It is solid state, so we're on the same page here.
 
Edit: Missed a couple posts. I was responding to seslwr above commenting about his preference for solid state amps.
 
As for ebay, I'd rather not purchase on there. I have around 600 to blow on Amazon, so I might as well pick it up there, unless I could get a much better deal elsewhere. And $314.95 isn't bad on Amazon.

I bought my Asgard on the official web site, but I did pick my Bifrost on Amazon (via Audio Advisor) for the list price ($450 w/USB), but saved about $50 in tax and shipping. The Bifrost was also available on Amazon when it wasn't on Schiit.com.
 
Overall I had a good experience from Audio Advisor, though it did take quite some time to ship to CA.
 
It doesn't look like there's an Asgard available right now, but there may be one on there at any time. It's not really consistently available.

I know this post is old but I figured I'd give my 2 cents.  I bought my HD 600s from this seller on ebay.  Current price on amazon is 399.95.  I got mine from RazorDogDeals2008 on a $300 offer within 5 minutes.  You could very well probably offer lower.  The website affiliated with RazorDogDeals2008 is Razordogdeals.com is listed as an authorized sennheiser dealer on. http://www.sennheiserusa.com/serviceandsupport_authorized-dealers_online-dealers   They ship UPS with a tracking number.  EBAY's buyer protection program also applies to the purchase http://pages.ebay.com/coverage/index.html
