Just got the 598s less than a week ago.  Noticed while listening to my low-end pioneer receiver (haven't decided on what entry level amp I'm getting yet) that the levels seemed a little heavy on the right ear, specifically when listening to things that should be fairly dead center (standard dialogue scenes in The Dark Knight).  I then went to my computer, plugged them into my vanilla realtek audio card, and noticed the same thing on songs that were really familiar to me ('Uprising' by Muse). Adjusting the pan on the audio file in Audacity to 20% left seemed to make the song sound 'right' to me. 
 
Maybe I'm simply not used to the soundstage yet, but if the levels are off, I'd like to return them.  I love the sound of these things otherwise.
