I own both of the headphones in question. The 598 is a better, more accurate headphone in every way over the Philips. However the Philips is a great deal when it goes on sale for $50 every so often.

Philips with 3d printed pad holders and Shure SRH1540 pads. I'm not a huge fan of Sennheiser treble so the 9500's with those mods win hands down for me but my modified T50RP with Shure pads beats both. .
