I'm wondering how the sound quality of a full size can like HD595 can be compared to an IEM like the CX300? Because I'm thinking of buying the HD595's but I heard some people say the CX300 sounds almost the same. I have doubts believing this but is it true?

I'm kinda thinking about buying both. 595's for home use and the cx300's for on the road but if I do that I want to be sure that the HD595's are really much better in all regards. Especially soundstaging. I don't want to pay 140 euros only for it to be a little better than 30 euro IEMs. Anyone care to elaborate?

Also, how would the HD595's compare to really popular cans like the Sony MDR-7506's?

Whoever told you the 595s were only marginally better than the CX300s is an idiot. They're far better and you'd be well off getting them over the CX300s.

Well I finally went for it and bought it

109 euros total and some points from my bank account. So yeah, I got it a lot cheaper with bank since they have this little online shop where you can buy products for a lot cheaper than in stores and stuff but you have to give some of your collected points as well. Luckily for me, I had more than enough and from the few headphones they had, HD595 is one of them.

It will take about 2 weeks to get here though...*sigh*..

I have both. HD595 has better soundstage and detail but the CX300 has fuller bass and is less muffled in the mids. They do sound very different but overall the HD595 is better; and an amp improves them a lot IMO.

I'll probably be ordering the CX300 later on as well for portable use. I came from a pair of Sony EX082 buds but those broke soon but I liked the sound quality.

Also, I'll be using the HD595's unamped. I've been doubting for like 2 months now for what I should do. The K701's and HD600's really appealed to me but everyone said they suck unamped so I really hope the HD595's blow me away. I'm guessing they will do...because I was quite impressed out of a pair of Beats and that one gets all the hate
