I've heard a lot about this mod but haven't really nailed down any impressions.

When I say defoaming, I mean this foam here

Also, please say whether or not you have the foam on the other side removed or modded in any way.

Thanks

isn't that piece hard to get back in, in case you don't like the mod. i wouldn't do it.

That is precisely why I am looking for impressions first!

For me and my 650's it seemed bring out the bass a bit more, it had more of a punch to it, less muddy.
I definitely prefer the sound I have now without the outer foam.

I stretched some pantyhose material over the entire inner grill section and clamped it in to protect the driver from dust.

I have taken some pictures to show you but it's pretty hard to capture pantyhose inside of these things

I also prefer the 650 without the outer foam. I currently have the inside foam in place, unmodded. I think I might mod the inner foam similar to how j0shimi shows in his pic.

becomes brighter.. Noticeable jump in detail.. Bass is a bit snappier & better defined. Increase in the sound stage..

Is it difficult to put back the foam in case I don't like the sound after defoaming?

Plus, how can I remove the outer grill?
I saw in the other thread that I must use spoon to pry the metal grill out.

Sorry if my question is a bit off-topic.

It isn't hard as long as you take it out carefully in the first place.

You can see the entire tutorial for this here: APureSound - Where The Music Is Always Pure

I am happy to see there are many others out these who have done my mod and are enjoying it.

I thought I'd seen that photo somewhere. You should get a job as a hand-model, or get a model for a hand-job, I forget which it is.
