I found the HD280 Pro for 65 bucks, and i want to hop on and buy 'em, but i'm sorta reluctant to make a purchase.
Is there anything else better for around 70 bucks? I like isolation, and I listen to lots of electronica.

my source is a computer soundcard with either losslessly compressed music, or high bitrate LAME encoded MP3
I don't have an amp, but i might build one.

HD-497's are ****ing awsome for techno in that price range.

I'm not sure there's anything else in that range which suits you. Closed phone, right? Not just non leak, but actually closed off? The HD280 should work well in a plane as they have very good sealing. I'm very confident that they sound better (but perhaps slightly less musical?) than the MDR-V6, the nearest other choice, but I just can't bring myself to wear an HD280 in public. On a plane, you shoudl be able to get away with it
