I'm burning in my new HD 280 headphones as I've read from recommendations. I'm already in about 24 hours, but I'm wondering is it ok if I burn them in with the ear pads closed together or should I turn them and open them up. Reason I'm doing closed now is because I live in a dorm and it would be hard to do it while sleeping with them open.

For a burn-in situation like that I would surround them with a ton of padding (clothes, towels, sheets, etc.) and put them in a drawer. Just let them play in there while you sleep and you shouldn't hear much.

Get a thick textbook (or two thick textbooks) and use them as a sandwich layer for the headphones. Works great, that's what I did for my MDR-V6 at first!
