I've recently bought the eH150 with the intent to use them in means of transportation. Although they are pretty good for the price, I decided to keep searching for a pair of portable closed headphones. I'm mainly dissatisfied with the eH150s' abillity to block out ambient noise - it's unfortunately almost non-existent. I had the HD212s and I can say for sure that they offer sufficient isolation for my needs. I'm also considering the HD205s and akg k81djs, the first of which I might be able to buy at a bargain price, therefore if there was a tie I would choose the HD205s.

I would very much like your input.

I'm afraid that isn't very helpful. AKG has already failed me once (k26p=catastrophy) and I'm not all that keen on getting the k81djs despite their great reviews. I know I can trust Sennheiser on the other hand. As I said before if all three are close in terms of sound, isolation and portability I will choose HD205.

I cannot speak for the HD205s, but I've had HD212s and currently have K81DJ, and have heard the K26Ps on a few occations. The K81s and K26s are completely two different cans to my ears; K81s simply have more clarity, better highs and mids, and a much tighter and punchier bass. HD212s are no where near the K81s. At this price you simply cannot go wrong with K81s.

I really enjoyed my HD212s when I had them. They may not be natural-sounding, but IMO they are definitely fun-sounding and great for trance. On the other hand the HD205s look a little more durable and I may have an opportunity to buy them at a bargain price - for approx. 25% less than the akg k81djs. That's quite tempting. What's more I heard great things about their isolating capability - another good reason to try them out.

The HD212 are one of the worst headphone i had in my possession. Bass was overwhelming, not that confortable, and kinda cheap in design and built.

Naturally, I used an EQ. When you crank the bass down by 10dB the sound is much better. It's unreasonable to judge headphones at this price point solely on their performance without the use of an EQ.

hey im on the market for 205's rite now.
i love the swivel feature. i currently own hd201's which are great, if a little quiet, and cx300's for on the go.

so tell me, how do the 205's fare?? and where can i get em cheap?? i dun mind buying second hand, as long as its in near new condition.

and a 3m long cable with no winder is v. annoying
