Hi guys, I am looking for a fun headphone for EDM and Dancehall. My main rig is HD 800s through a Rega DAC and Burson amp.

The cans should be closed and less than $400. Used is fine. Would like strong bass but not at the sacrifice of sound quality (some small sacrifice is okay). For example, I consider the Sony XB series to be terrible. Portability and looks are not a consideration. Good soundstage is also fairly important.

This is what I have considered so far:

V Moda M100
JVC SZ2000
Ultrasone Pro 900
Denon D600

What do you guys think?

Ultrasone Pro 2900 will give you ridiculously great bass and airy, detailed sound overall. They do require a lot of burn-in time, though.

Pro 2900 are semi-open. The emblem area on the cup keeps in a lot of the bass impact, while allowing treble to extend along the outer vents. Burn-in will bring out tonality of the mids. It will benefit from tube amps, just like the HD800.

Thanks.  I listened to the Shure 1540 today which was fairly good.  The V Moda was also, sound wise, reasonably impressive.  I am, however, not a fan of its portable character.

I would highly suggest the HE-400 for EDM music. I'm using it now with my Geek Out 720 and I'm an avid EDM fan. Another headphone I would recommend is the DT770 Pros. Both work REALLY well with EDM.
