I had already ordered a pair of the 555's when I realized I wasn't sure which version I had ordered ... and the ones that arrived were the 50 ohm version. Chances are, that's what you'll be getting. Just a guess ...

most of hd555s that being sold are 50 ohm version. I think the old serie hd555s have 120ohm impedance. the ipod can drive the 120ohm version but I think it can't do it well as the computer do.so you will need an an amp to get a solid performance from your cans if you buy 120ohm hd555.

I've got the 50ohm one and I bought it over 2 years ago now. And from memory the 120ohm version had been out of production then for months, so you should be pretty safe.

as long as you were buying new, i doubt you'd get anything but the 50ohm version. The 120ohm version has been out of production for well over a year, if I recall.

kbsanti, which seller was this? I was planning to get a HD555 too but the cheapest on eBay I find is around $120 USD shipped... and probably + customs fees.

Big-Fi, Who, and can you provide me with a link? I bought these headphones before i discovered Head-Fi.

Obentou, These were the last one that the seller had. They are brand new in box. You can get refurbished ones cheap too.
