Hey HFiers! I just recently purchased the HD-25 Adidas and already i'm thinking about a re-cable. From what i'm aware of, the HD25-13 has a beefy 600ohm cable and I read a review on them saying it has more mids overall and better balance in the bass compared to the original HD-25 with the 70ohm cable. I found this statement to be somewhat true because I tried using my HD-25 with my 150ohm resistor plug with a Fiio E7. I found a bit more body in the mids and I felt more sub-bass presence... People with the HD600/650 cables on the HD-25 also says similar comments as well. I was just wondering if I should get the HD600/650 cables or the HD-25-13 cables... Anyone tried both?

There is no way you'll get the performance of the HD 25-13 out of the HD25-1. You can use a resistor in series with the drivers to increase the impedance of the circuit, but it still won't match the HD25-13 even if you got the impedance to 600Ω.

Using a HD600 or HD650 cable is the same as using any of the stock HD 25 cables, they are all as low resistance as possible and don't have any appreciable effect on the impedance.

The HD25-13 has a completely different voice coil which is much higher impedance, the cable is the same.

From what i'm aware of, the HD600/650 is a 300ohm cable while the HD-25 is a 70... I'm not sure what you're trying to explain here... From what i'm told, the only difference between the HD-25-1 and the HD-25-13 are the cables... Are you sure the HD-25-13 has different voice coils?

I can assure you the cables are all as close to 0Ω as possible.

I can measure the resistance of a HD650 cable for you, I have one right here in front of me.

The voice coil is what determines a headphones impedance. That's how different otherwise identical headphones like the DT770/880/990 all have 3 otherwise identical models.
