Mate it all depends on what you are looking for in your headphones,as even though they are not very different-they do have their differences in tems of isolation,comfort and so on.
It does also depend if you will be using an amp or not.
Portability s a factor too.

...depends on your source. Amping does improve the HD25ii's but you've got to listen over time to compare.

I prefer my HD25 Mark IIs unamped most the time - just more convenient. I don't hear a smaller difference with them using a Fiio5 whereas the 280Pros - huge huge difference.

Haven't tried the Shure equivalents yet. I hear great things about them but I think I'll skip it and try a Beyerdynamic DT880 if I can get my hands on a set..

SRH840 sounds better than HD25-1 in every way.
