Hey guys, my brother is planning to buy some full size cans.
i think the only good cans i can get in turkey are the HD202's and SHP805's.
Wich of them is better ?
It'd be nice if you could add the Pro's and Con's.
Thanks

I have never heard the HD202, but they look quite uncomfortable and are closed/sealed headphones. The SHP805 are open, very comfortable und sound really incredible for the money.

The is a longer review+thread from ][Gore around here, where some usefull modding-tips for the SHP805 were posted.

202: closed, crappy design, uncomfortable, too bassy

805: semi-open, crappy build, cheap feel, comfortable, exagerated bass and treble, improves with EQ and mods, good bass extension, decent sounstage, fun

If you need a cheap closed phone, get the HD201 instead.
If you don't need isolation, the 805 is fine as long as you don't value neutrality. It would be a sweet sidekick to a high-end can. But if that's going to be your main phone, I'd choose something like a PX100 or a KSC75 instead... unless you really want a circumaural (get a HD201 then).

All of this IMHO of course.

The 201's pretty good, especially for the price. They look good too, and are comfortable if you have small ears. They're kinda power hungry though...

Keep in mind that cheap open cans usually sound better than cheap closed ones - please name *one* closed model in the ~$100-or-less range that people rave about in terms of absolute sound quality. HD201s still exhibit the typical phasiness, if considerably less than older cheap closed cans (all the excitement is related to sound quality vs. headphone type and money). You can still mod them a bit, but 24 ohm cans are becoming rather difficult to drive (certainly by opamp circuits, you'd need power amps here) and they ultimately do have their limits. SHP805s are rather good home cans for their price even unmodified, but with some EQ to tame the highs and a few simple mods they do extremely well, certainly out of some kind of amp. It's not even close IMHO.

the HD201 looks like the best choice.

Be aware that the '201 has only moderate isolation though. That is the only thing where the '202 apparently is better (similar to '212Pro). (The rather new HD205 would be better in both sound and isolation.)
