Thanks for the opinions guys. I still can't decide between the UM3X and the IE8, so I guess it's going to have to come down to price. I'm just going to get whichever I find cheaper and hope that I can afford the other on another occasion.

Alright, after doing some more reading, I've decided that the ability to handle hot/sharp music (like most stuff produced today) well is my most important criterion, and that the IE8 does much better than its competitors in that department. Can anyone confirm/deny? If it does, does it do significantly better than the UMX3?
