Have Denon changed the inside of the D2000 cup?

Just wondering... taken my new pair apart to do the markl mod, but the cup isn't bare inside. It has a thick deadening layer and a ring of fibrefill.

Is this how they've always been?

Well I just took mine apart as well, and mine are exactly the same as the above pic. Ring of fiberfill and some gray plastic/rubber in the middle that is quite dense/firm. Almost like a hard plastic. I bought mine from Amazon and received them last week.

I've fitted a layer of bodyline into mine, over the mass loading that's already there, extended to the edge of the cups. Has definitely tightened up that sloppy bottom end.
