regulator ala dynalo/dynahi power supply designs?

I've experimented with an OPA548 and the minimum voltage drop seems be around 1.7V (i.e. +/-30Vsupply = around 28.3Vout). wondering what is the value you got in your experiment? is it stable?

The data sheet says 3V on the plus supply, sounds like you're doing well.

I need an OPA548, where did you find yours?
