I've scanned through the few Head-Fi threads on the MDR-EX90's, and have come to the conclusion these new buds seem to do a good job for what they were designed to do. Isolation seems only on par with most open buds and these are actually classed as semi-open, a hybrid of a bud and canal phone.
I have owned and used the MDR-E888's for years, both in LP and SP versions. These always used to be the standard Fonotopia-style bud that others are compared to, and I wonder if anyone has done extensive listening to both the new EX90's vs. the 888's - I would like to get the EX90's, but I need to be convinced they offer something more than my old standbys. So far, I haven't read anything that indicates that I should rush out and make this purchase.......
