I have a motherboard I want to use in my mini server. In their infinite wisdom, the manufacturer decided to omit any temperature monitoring capabilities. (i.e. they did not solder any thermistors, dumbasses) So no Motherboard Monitor.
I am stuck with this motherboard, so getting another one is not feasible right now.
I am looking for a hardware device,(USB or serial, preferrably USB) that will monitor temperature inside the case. So that when the temperature reached a certain level, it will trigger a shutdown, either via software or hardware.
I've looked into a serial port one called "Temptrax." The IT department where I work uses the serial port versions.
Anyone with experience with such devices?
Oh, yeah, the server is using Windows 2000.
Thanks,
-Ed
