I'm getting a new iron before i start my recabling and built of β22

I'm considering an Aoyue clone of the Hakko 936 (36Watts analog control)
and 937 (45 watts digital control with lcd display).
Price difference is around 25 dollars and i dont want to skimp on this one but im realy tight on the budget

So basicaly my question is
Will the 937 be a worth it?
If it was not for the 10 more watts i'd have settled on the 936

IMO higher power isn't required for regular soldering. I wouldn't consider the more expensive model unless the other features are important to you.

$25 seems pretty high. The first store I find selling them has a difference of $15 ($33 v. 48). It does look like a good value, given the features, even if it were to break in a few years (but, many folks here seem happy with them).

If you don't have to fight against heatsinking, though, I can't see more watts being worth it. A 15W iron can do most through-hole work just fine, if slowly due to reheating.

well pricing over here is a little different
25€ for the 936 and 50 for the 937+

your advice helps to stay on the good side =)

i was again leaning to the 937 due to its digital controls and digital temp display

the 25€ would be well spend on a cd or two or an IR termometer

Yeah, that's about $35, and the total cost $70. That, and it's more coolness than anything else--and is a digital temp control really cooler than an IR thermometer? No.
