I bought a pair of HA-FX55ZA two days ago as a temp till my UM2's returned and they are horrible, yes. The bass is bloated and too heavy sounding..to the point that some songs are just plain obnoxious without serious EQing.
I suppose the kidz like this. "omg the bass!" :|
The midrange is very much muffled as well. Vocals are pushed way back and the bass is brought out in front of everything, terrible presentation.
The cord is typical, 2-wire ipod-white wire with the crazy non-equal length around-the-neck-style cord, which is fine and dandy so long as its not an in-ear bud. The weight of the cord is placed entirely on the left ear seal. Great.
Maybe I'm expecting too much from $29 in-ear buds, but there's not much to love in this product. :\
