Gustard DAC-A26 - AK4499EX DAC :: Impressions Thread

Of course I'm not at all sure I installed the R26 firmware, mine is just a suspicion, the strangest thing is that connected to the Cisco switch if they see the same things as normal, the led turns green as if the connection had been successful. Even connected directly to the router the light lights up regularly but when accessing the router it is not seen as an existing device.
Bubleupnp or myconnect ap also don't see it in the network.
This is why I suspected that I had accidentally installed the R26 having downloaded it to see if the instructions were more understandable.
In short, I'm not at all sure that I have installed the wrong firmware, the fact is that the ethernet port seems to work but it is not seen as a device connected to the network

You can't really install firmware by chance... you have to download it, unzip it and use the driver installation routine, which is a prerequisite for recognition.
Switch off the dac (switch behind the case). Connect it via USB.
Run the installation bat file that launches the driver, etc...
In short, a bit more complex than a simple click.
And once again, the drivers are different. Quite simply, it's impossible to install the R26 firmware on the A26.

On the other hand, the streamer is configured in DHCP, so you need a DHCP server on your network (probably a router).
All you need to do is list the devices and renew the addresses if necessary, or check that none have been banned.

Thanks for the explanation but that's exactly what I did
Now connected to any computer it is no longer detected
Connected to any Modem it is not seen.
I am now convinced that I have not installed the wrong firmware, but the right one, only that something went wrong and now it is no longer detected, neither by computer nor by modem
The only ethernet no longer works, all the other inputs work.

Let me clarify...
A26 firmware installation :

When you decompress firmware pack, you have :
23080204491815136318223225.jpg

ou click on the .bat file "Run this file to start"

23080204491815136318223226.jpg

First alert.. "Confirm you are using the correct model"
No cable connected...
continue...

23080204491815136318223227.jpg

continue... cable connected.. no device detected

23080204491815136318223228.jpg

No driver installed... if you want to install spécific A26 driver, enter "Y"
if you have ever used this tool and all is functionnal, enter "N".

After, and only after, the script "mount" the driver and the command window came ... green !

23080204491915136318223229.jpg

At this point, you can see 3 USB devices in the explorer (1 single card / 3 partitions)
press a touch.. and after you have the update window with another alert..

(Me, I reduce the window to keep the peripheral connected and I use Balena Etcher... but when if you validate the process it works autonomously).

This is the good process..

Hi. I have a question, in order to update the A26 to v1.42, I first need to install something from the small CD that came with the device? Today I tried to install firmware 1.42 but Windows does not see Gustard A26. After connecting with a cable, Windows continues the message that it cannot find a USB serial for this device online. Martin.

Ok
Wich Windows version ?
And if you launch as administrator, the file "wdi-64bit.exe" ?
And after, the driver in the new folder extracted : usb_driver/installerX64.exe ?

Thanks for all your effort, but I've had this Gustard A26 for many months and it had the 1v40
So I did the update to 1v41 and everything worked fine.
So a few days ago I unfortunately decided to install the 1v42 version
Again everything went smoothly, the installation was successful.
Unplugged the Gustard and plugged into the stereo, the ethernet port didn't work, then trying to reinstall the firmware again the USB C port no longer sees the mini CF card.
I've tried everything possible, even with Rufus, but the CF is no longer seen.
All that remains is to open it and install a new mini CF card
That you know what key is needed to unscrew the screws, what size is the Allen key needed?
All the ones I have are not good.

When it comes to the allen keys if you are using metric and none of them fit, then they are inch size screws. And vice versa. Make sure you get the right one because once they're stripped you'll have a bigger problem. On bigger screws you can usually get by with a wrench that's close enough but with tiny screws I don't think so

Not to derail, but has anyone heard of anymore firmware updates coming? According to the creator of HQPlayer, the DSD Direct mode isn't working and just stays on regardless of when its on or off according to his measurement of it. The dac already sounds great when using HQPlayer but I can only imagine what a further improvement could be once it's fixed

I just discovered something kinda weird. I use FB2K and dsd process to 256 it works with Gustard plugin and the DSD trancoder DOP/Native plugin. So the A26 only does 256 dop. In FB2K in the preferences for DSD processor I changed the setting for 44.1 input to 515 dop output and it worked. The A26 displays 22.1 m. As soon as I tried to switch to the Gustard output I get an error. With DSD Transcoder DOP/Native plug in it works. In the FB2K preferences I opened the asio tab and opened the control panel for the DSD Transcoder DOP/Native. It works if the sample rate tab is set to 512 dop and the 44.1 based tab is set to DSD512. As soon as I change the 44.1 based tab to DOP12 I get an error. I am not really sure why it works I just barely have a basic understanding of it all.
