Imo both qutest and a26 are really good. Main difference is the network connection on a26. All dacs should have this

Many thanks - those are exactly the instructions I was looking for, but couldn't find again! I already use Etcher for building Linux/Pi systems, but I wanted to get every detail sorted before risking bricking my A26!On page 1 of the R26 thread there is a tutorial how to update in Win/Mac. Use that tutorial to update your A26. Or you're in Linux?
@Martro1981 When you download the FW file, it comes with a batch file named "...Run this file to start.bat" run it. Follow the instructions in the batch file. If not, use process found on page 1 of the R26 thread.
How to check the firmware version? I just updated on A26, to the successful write image step, I turned off usb image, everything closed, I don't know if the firmware has been updated successfully. Thanks
Oh and does anyone have a clip or guide to replace the fuse, I don't know how to remove the old fuse

For R26 owners, check FW installed it is: In standby, hold the selector button down, then turn the unit on. The display will show latest date of firmware.
Don't know if its is the same with A26. Try it.

With A26 firmware shows in roon as 1.41. Hope this helps. Just wondering if anyone tried 1.42 yet?How to check the firmware version? You can find the name of the device on network (HQPlayer, Roon.. UPNP ?) : it's "Gustarenderer 1.41"
1.42, is interesting to solve issues with UPNP. No change for Roon for HQPlayer.

So everything is successful and the USB imager is done and Image was written successfully. On the popup screen it says "press any key to continue..." and I do but nothing happens. If I close out the USBImager window everything closes. Am I doing this wrong or is it installed after I closed the USBImager window? I closed it once and checked for firmware version but it seems to be the same. A115_106_426? i think

Maybe need to open the DAC and remove the SD card. And flash it directly. Ask Gustard support.

I have sourced the internet in order to find all comparisons I could between the A26 and R26, and for convenience gathered them here:

Do not confuse the firmware system (menu, display, etc) and the streamer update (Gustarender 1.4.2).... closed it once and checked for firmware version but it seems to be the same. A115_106_426? i think
For streamer update, this is the correct procedure. For my part, I start the recognition of the SD card of the A26 and then I use Balena Eitcher to write the update.

Do you know if the version i mentioned in my post is the updated one?
I don't know where you read this information : A115_106_426 is, i suppose, the original system firmware that doesn't need to be updated (even if there is a bug in the DSD options, for the moment, there is no update).Do you know if the version i mentioned in my post is the updated one?
On the other hand, the file A26_Gustarender_1v42_onlyA26_A26only.zip allows to install the 1v42 version of the built-in streamer. It allows to write the image file A26_Release_1v42.img on the internal SD card. Then under Roon, NAA or UPNP, you can see the mention Gustarender 1.42.

After I read your message I went to look for the 1.42 version and now I can see Gustarender! Thanks! First impression is that LAN does sound better after about 4 hours of listening but mainly a/b ing 5 songs. Maybe I wanted LAN to sound better? Well it's enough to switch to LAN if all I'll be doing is enjoying music and I'm very happy with this purchase. Time to sell the D400EX
