I've been searching for equivalent tubes to the GU17's that are in the Eartube.

So far, I've seen QQE03/12, RS1023, 6360, 8457 and 8458 mentioned. However, when I asked @ tubeworld about the 6360's, I was told that I should check again since the 6360 is not equivalent to the GU17, and I haven't been able to find much info.

Does anyone have a definitive answer on this? I've found some decent NOS 8458's - are they definitely replacements for the GU17?

Can anyone confirm if GU17 = 6360 = 8458?

Hi! I am also an Eartube owner and yesterday corresponded with Jan Meier about tube rolling in the Eartube. He said he knew of no substitutes for the 3 x 6N3P tubes in the amp; but equivalents for the GU17 are:
GU17 = QQE03/12 = RS1023 = RS1029 = CV2798.
He had some NOS tubes of this variety available, traded in by a customer, so I bought a set from Jan to try. I think I am getting some Amperex and Telefunken GU17. But he said he knew of nothing other than the Russian 6N3P's in the amp. Have you found something else?

Is the 5670 not a direct substitute for the 6N3?

EDIT: the 5670 is listed as very close but with different ratings, however 2C51 and 396A are listed as identical
