My source is a modded ipod with lossless FLAC files, I want to get the RA1 because it is just the right size for me and it is the same Grado look/style. Will it drive the GS1000 headphone properly??

Well, I think this is a pretty nice option : RA1 Clone for cheap!

I would go with that option at that price. Especially if you want it portable. The RA-1 does have a synergy with the GS-1000s.

thanks, maybe that clone option is right, as it is cheaper... but is it the exact same? I know RA1 isn't mini to mini like that, does that make a difference in SQ? i also wanted RA1 because it has the official brown grado look to it but for $200 difference maybe not

I have the clone amp listed and it sounds extremely similar to the RA-1. I would recommend it.

No, it's not the same as the ra-1. I has a different op-amp and coupling caps than the ra-1, which are the two items that set the ra-1 apart from other cmoys.

EDIT - the stock op-amp is the same as the ra-1, but the coupling caps are very different.

Well I think it is a rather decent combo.
