Before everyone starts posting their own photos, I noticed Headroom now has some nice photos of the production model with the new lettering. They have it positioned the same way as the RS-1 photos so you can easily compare.

The GS1000 is heavier than the RS1, but feels much lighter due to the pads.

I like the look of the new GS-1000, and I think that idea for the "super bowl" pads is one that is long over due.

It will be interesting to see if Grado can maintain the high level of wood workmanship shown in these proto-type models.

yes, i believe so. But they aren't cheap something like $50 (probably plus shipping too).

They are $50 from TTVJ, and no returns. They do not sound good on other Grados, they suck out all mid and lower end.

If you look at the pictures of the GS-1ks on the Headroom website, the answer is - yes the square cut is used. I agree that I would much prefer the original half circle cut. However, I own a pair of RS-1s that use the square cut, and with proper handling and storage when not is use, I don't have any cord scuffs in that area at all.
