I was gonna say CFH was the best debut album ever, but it's actually Pantera's fifth album, after Metal Magic, I Am the Night, Power Metal and Projects in the Jungle. CFH is just their Major label debut.

I also forgot to mention Journey and Boston's self-titled debuts. Both incredible albums.

A brilliant album, but would its sound have lead you to think that they would become one of the biggest bands in the world?

Didn't the Chronic Town EP come out before Murmur? I just picked that one up on vinyl for a couple of bucks. Having been an REM fan for 20+ years, I can't believe I'd never heard this really excellent recording. I love the raw, deceptively simple sound.
