just picked up their second alubm, "the sophtware slump" today. good stuff, it's alt-country riddled with keyboards and other electronic tidbits. the first time i listened to it i was unimpressed, but it grows on you after just a few listens with the surreal atmosphere. i first heard their stuff when they opened for pete yorn in atlanta, and decided to pick up the album today when i came across it. it's also a pretty depressing album... i was surprised. anyway, has anyone else heard of them or heard this album?

Yeah, I have several things by them. Like 'em a bit. I even stumbled upon Through a Frosty Plate Glass, the bonus EP that came with it for a time. Highly recommended to fans of Flaming Lips and the like.

grandaddy is incredible. the sophtware slump has been flooring me for years now. the depressing nature of most of the tracks is something i really enjoy, and i have heard few better songs than "so you'll aim toward the sky."

i also own concrete dunes, which i haven't spent much time with. it's basically all b-sides i guess.

their new album is called "sumday" and coming out june 10th and it is rather excellent. i can't wait for it to come out so i can enjoy the full cd glory of it.

i'd like to thank you for reminding me of this album, i haven't listened to it in at least a year and it was one of my favorites. i'm sitting and listening to it now on hp-1 and it almost sounds completely different to me now, but i love it.

poor, poor jed the humanoid.

Thanks grinch, I just downloaded "so you'll aim towards the sky" and I'm very much liking what I'm hearing. I also downloaded a few more songs, but have only listened to 'syatts' and another one so far, the rest will have to wait until tomorrow. If the other songs are anywhere near this good, I'll definitely be buying this album.

if you like that song, "the crystal lake" off the same album is very similar. and make sure to check out "jed the humanoid". it's different from the others, but it's my favorite on the album. very slow and depressing, but good. it's a ballad to a robot no less. i won't spoil it any more than that
