Does one specific model of Grado or Alessandro headphones work best for the Jazz and Blues listener?

Depends on your budget, but the "sweet spot" to hit the blues is the Alessandro MS-2 out of John Grado's designs. You haven't heard the blues until SRV comes screaming through those metal cans!

For live & concert hall recording, RS-1 is top of my choice. RS-1 offers very refined & detailed presentation and probably largest soundstage in current production Grado line up (except for GS1K). For a studio album, I found RS-2 to be slightly more favorable due to its direct presentation. RS-2 sounds like its injecting the sound directly to your ears. Very intimate experience indeed!

I would say either the RS-1 or the RS-2. Sorry I can't recommend the GS1000 but to me they had no midrange, just lots of bass and trebble.
