Simple question: has anyone measured how much the SR-series 'phones weigh as opposed to the ms-2i/325i? I really want to upgrade from the SR125s (lack of deep bass being the primary issue), but can't justify the purchase of the higher end RS-2/1. And while I could buy a pair of 225s, I feel they would be a poor investment.

So, enter the metallic casing. And with that, possible comfort issues. Since I can't get a pair for testing, I figured I might just strap some metal to the 125's and see how they feel.

if i were you, here's what i'd do:

1. email grado and ask for the exact weight in grams for each headphone you're wondering about.
2. by some lead tennis racquet weights and add them to your sr125.
3. wear the heavy sr125 for a while and see how it feels.

i went from a sr80 to a 325i. the difference in weight is hardly noticable. right now the only real difference for me is that the 325i's are more likely to slip off when leaning over.

The wooden Grados are dead light.

IMO they are as light as the plastic Grados.

.....note; I use Senn414s reversed and they stick to me bean quite well!!

The SR325i does feel heavier on the head but the Beyer headband distributes it rather nicely. It's a very tight fit on the headband because the 325 headband is a bit fatter but it just about goes on.

My MS2i's weigh 305g including the cable. I must say that they look heavy in pictures but when you put them on your head they feel suprisingly light.

Well, a lot more replies than I would've expected. Cheers folks, especially Gross and lossless. I believe I'll just go ahead and buy a pair... severe upgraditis ahoy!

I found the MS-2 suprisingly comfortable when I tried a pair last summer. I had the SR-225 side by side and felt that the padded leather headband more than made up for extra weight of the MS-2. ryanhayn is right about them being more likely to slide off when leaning - it's not a big issue though (imo).

...the "old" MS-2 weighs 285 g (approx. 205g headphone + 80g cable) - so it's a bit lighter than the new one...

Unfortunately I don't have the weight of the MS-1 that I gave away as a present yesterday - but as we already do have the weight of the SR-80, I guess it will be nearly the same...

Leo

Edit: Just to sum up the weights we got:

SR80: 202g (132g cans / 70g cable) [weighed by Gross]
MS2: 285g (205g cans / 80g cable) [weighed by leofahrer]
MS2i: 305g [weighed by lossless]
