I'm searching for new headphones to use with my Sharp MD. The ones I have nailed down is the Grado SR60 and Beyerdynamic, both can be had for the same price. I prefer a warm sound with deep bass and preferably not harsh highs. Which one would fit me best? can't hear them where I live, have to order.

Neither of them are really suitable for portable use, but if you're after a warmer sound the Beyer would be a better choice.

Can you get hold of Etys or other closed headphones? They're generally more well suited for on the road use.

I think koss portapros or even the koss ksc-35 fits that bill.
They are warm, has good bass and doesn't sound harsh at all. The 531 is too big for portable, trust me. Plus they are open(so is the grado) and leak hell lot.
