Yeah guys, unamped vs amped really is like day and night. I'm no fanboy, this is real. I've only used them with my PPAv2, which might be a little overpowered. Now that I know how nice they can be, I'm thinking a mini^3 would be a nice addition to make the grados a nice portable source. I'm kind of tiring of IEMS.

the AD8397 mini^3 is a very good sounding amp IMHO.

Pretty much how im starting out. SR80. I wanted to get SR225 or SR325i but i was waiting on a good deal in the FS/FT thread. Problem is that my headphones at work broke. I didn't want to wait a month trying to find a good deal on the SR225 or SR325i and be with no music

. So i thought i would experience a little of grado goodness and purchase the SR80. Heck they are selling on ebay pretty close or over what they sell new anyways. SO when i get the SR225 or SR325i then i can just sell them. After i buy the headphones im looking into a mini3. My SR80 will be in tomorrow from J&R

Well damn, this thread is gonna make me dig out my SR80. I've heard them amped before and still didn't care much for it, but maybe I'll realize what I was missing if I do it now (plus I don't think the amp was all that great, if I remember correctly). It's cool how little things can change your perspective though.

I feel your happiness. I am in love with my SR80's with Flats and my cheep-ish CMoy amp!

If you have the chance to listen to yours with Flats..you love em even more

??!!

I found that the 325's had deeper & quicker bass then all the others! if I had the $ I would get 325's in a heart beat! I would love to hear 325's with Flats! ((

I find the grado sound is much more fun compared to the sennheisers. As for the 325, you should go test them first because you either love them or hate them, while most people like the sr225s

I've listened to all of the current SR line up: 60's, 80's, 125's, 225's & 325's.

The SR60's with Bowls or Flats would be a Excellent choice for best bang for the buck. But the SR80's had a more 3D sound stage then the 60's. I did not notice much of any difference from the 80's with the 125's or the 225's to justify the price difference. But the 325's had a better bass response then all of them. Again...I would love to audition 325's with Flats!
