I was wondering if the Sr-40's has the same drivers as the sr60's. i was also wondering how much a brand new Sr-40 would be worth. Thx

New SR-40's would probably be worth a bit more these days since they're quite rare. They do indeed have SR-60 drivers!

I was planning on getting a pair of Sr40's off of a friend of mine who recieved them as a present quite along time ago and he's never used them and its still in its original packaging. I'm paying about 40$ cdn is that a good deal?

Their body/housing is made in China and they're assembled there too, but the drivers are still made in the US at Grado Labs. They're essentially SR60 drivers in a stock-crapphone housing. (There's a pic on the SR40 product page at Grado's website (though they're removed the link to it)). If you come across one (especially a New-In-Box one) it might be worth buying just because it is an extremely rare headphone.

May I enquire as to the reason for the SR40's rareness. Did Grado Labs cancel them quitly after their inception or what all?

I have been interested in purchasing them for about a month now. I don't need them and am sure that they will suffer a bit in the build translation from New York Design to China Build to New York Driver to End User Me. I do want them to complete a collection of Grados though. I have not seen any review of them, except on the Grado link posted earlyer in this thread. I don't even like the look ov them all that much. But I want them because they are Grados. Off I go to Ebay to see if they are there...
