Hey ive noticed since i got my RA-1 a few weeks ago that there was always a slight hum. today i got the idea it might be the batteries that i was using (energizer) so i replaced them with duracells and suddenly the hum was gone. just thought id post incase anyone else had the same problem. now the bad news, as i was taking one of the batteries off the black cord came off the connector, then i was puttin a battery on the other connector after and that just randomly fell out. i dont know how i got both off at once but i did. i currently just have the cords pinned under the connector so that the circuit stays completed and it works.

It's a good thing Grado's headphones sound good. Otherwise I'd really hate them. Especially for their quality control, and the ammount of money they charge for that little amp.
