I recently purchased a HF-1 which came with both bowls and flats and I like the flats a lot more than the bowls. With the bowls, the sound is a little too edgy and bass-light for me. The flats tame the highs and give a nice body to the bass. This comes at the expense of soundstage and separation though.

So to all the current HF-1 owners out there, do your prefer bowls or flats?

Who sold it to you?

I thought everyone would keep theirs.

I only use bowls. The flats sound annoying to me. Too bassy and mushy. I bought some flats for these when they first came out and they're sitting in a drawer where they've been ever since. They sound even worse on the MS-1 imho.

But if you like the flats, use them. They just never worked out for me. Some people like the extra bass, I can't stand it. Too fatiguing.
