It's coming up on nine years since I bought my Grado RS-1's. They still sound fantastic, but nine years is a very long time for an audio product to be in production without revisions. I would like to know if there have been any changes to the RS-1 over the years beside the switch from flat to bowl pads. I am interested in changes in sound and construction.

None really. Some say the older RS1s sound better. And there appears to be more than one type of leather used for the headband. They're pretty much the same as before, I think. Why mess with something good?

Also, the RS1 is really no longer the top of the line. The metal PS1 is now the head grado.

RS-1 can still be considered the top of the line since PS-1 is not available for regular purchase.
