This isn't a new discover for me but I would like to point it out to those who do not know that not all the comfie pads are the same. I have comfie pads that originally came with the grado sr325 purchased in 1995 and the comfie pads are by far better than the ones today. It is a thin comfie pad meaning when I hold it up to the light, it shines right through basically and is extremely soft.

The newer comfie pads are quite thick and quite frankly do not sound good. The old comfie pads are nowhere near as peaky and have a great balance in sound; great bass impact liquid mids and non peaky highs. They're basically better in every aspect in sound and comfort. Rough guess but it seems like the modern comfie pads have some thickness around 1cm whereas the old ones have a thickness about half that or less meaning they sit closer to the ear without much blockage which makes a big difference in sound. It's the difference between a harsh sounding headphone and full lush sounding one.
