Try using a primer + a paint pen.

If you don't prime the surface before painting, the paint will most likely not stick on well.

So my silver leafing idea crashed and burned. Fortunately I was able to get it all off so the headphones don't look any worse than when I started. I'm going to try the chrome paint technique next.

Does the paint actually flake with handling or does it just drop off with time?

I have had my MS1 for about a year now and haven't experienced this so i was just wondering...

The problem is that the gild I was using was too watery (thin) so it crawled up the sides and into the recesses and didn't stay on the top of letters like I wanted it to.
