Grado 225e as a first step into good "phones"

Well, I'm thinking that with the 701s there is room to improve my setup and they will just keep getting better. From what I understand, there really is little improvement to be had with the 225e. So, I could probably enjoy the 701s for longer by upgrading amp/DAC instead of buying another set of cans. Is this a safe assumption?

As someone who would prioritize comfort and imaging, I'd keep using the K701 and maybe get a better amp if there's room for improvement there.
