I am looking at SR60, SR80, SR125 and SR 225, how much difference are there between among them?

They look identical, and from Grado's site stated "SR225: This headphone has closer matched drivers and an improved rear screen that increases airflow by 50%". I am guessing if I take a SR125 and mod it will yield the same result?

Which of the four has the best bang/buck ratio?

The reason why I suggest people start with sr60s instead of the sr80s is because the next best thing is the sr225. Although from sr60s, I might rather upgrade to something other than Grados just to try something new.

x2 for sr225.

The SR60 is arguably the best value. But the SR225s are sweet indeed. If you are simply looking to try Grados, try the SR60. If you are looking for a hp that you'll want to keep for a long time, then the SR225 is probably a better option.

Agreed. I once compared the SR225 with the MS1 and the MS2 and was very disappointed by the Grado - a muffled MS1 with a slice more bass.

Hmm, I have to disagree. MS1s are a great deal, but I much preferred 225s. I didn't see the 225s as muffled at all compared to MS1s

To each his own? Maybe I just enjoy the grado 'edge' more. I didn't think the MS1s were as good with guitars as sr225s.

But to your question, do you have an amp?
With amp: sr225s
Without: sr60s or sr80s (Ive only tried sr80s)

Thanks for the feedbacks, where and about how much will I able to get a used SR60 with good condition? Will I able to sell it soon afterward around the same price, chances I am going to keep it is minimum.

Will SR225 perform well without amp? Hearing it is better with amp making it future proof for me

, but I have no plan on getting one with amp, too costly for me atm

Check the for sale forum on a regular basis. You probaly won't save more than $15 or $20 buying used, as the SR60's don't loose their value very much. I think about as low as I have seen them listed for is $50. More commonly they are listed for $60. You won't loose much when you resell, and you should be able to sell them rather quickly. I am betting once you hear them, you won't want to.

Thanks for the info, will you suggest me to go with new instead, saving some time searching and dealing with paypal. Even though I will sell them, sooner or later.

Regular Price: $69.00
Our Price: $62.10

.

Also, how does the MS-1 perform comparing to sr60?

I would probably buy new myself just to get them quicker, and as I said earlier, you won't loose that much when you sell them. I have never heard SR60's so I can't really compare them to the MS1's (which I do have). I can say that the MS1's are really great. Some Headfiers who have owned numerous Grado's have placed the MS1 between the SR125 and SR 225. By tomorrow I will be able to tell you how SR325i's sound. Mine should arrive today

This thread is my current dilemna. I wanted 225's, but hit a deal on new 60s today. I figured, "why not?". I am still considering the 225s, but only after I spend substantial time with the 60s.
