Hello HeadFi,

I have an LCD-2 Rev 2 paired with an entry level DAC (DragonFly) and AMP (Emotiva Mini X). I find the highs harsh, soundstage narrow, muddy, and a lack of instrument separation. I was thinking of getting a solid MidFi DAC/AMP combo to pair with the LCD-2s. I'd like to know what everyone thinks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From all the amps I heard with LCD-2 Rev. 1 and 2, the best one was a Headroom Portable Desktop Amp (I think), and that is discontinued.

A medium gain switch worked best with crossfeed switch being an okay improvement, and analog switch being not much a difference.  Regardless, I had all three settings and Track 4 from Miles Davis' Bitches Brew album had me movin' and groovin'.

Edit:  The track was John McLaughlin (4:26).  Eric Clapton sounded great as well.  No, I was not listening to "Tears in Heaven", either.
