What does it using USB micro cables have to do with anything?
What does it using USB micro cables have to do with anything?
did you mean to put this in the th-x00 or some other thread? If anyone is looking for a case just for the cans, do an ebay search of AKG K550 cases
I searched for pouch but got nothing ...
Anyone with a somewhat large camera pouch try it out with the M9xx? Something like this... but bigger & squarer; smaller lens diameter would work too...
Something like 6x5x3 should fit the m9xx, cables, adapter, and battery block and not push/press the volume nob. Would need larger for room for a DAP too. But the real point of this is a carrying case that doesn't press and maybe damage the mechanics of the nob.
Edit, maybe more like this...

Anyway, if you have an older larger one please give it a try and let me/us know if this is an avenue worth exploring.
I own several of the old larger film SLR cases like that and the fit is awkward. Your best bet is probably a hard case and then simply cut foam with an x-acto knife for a custom fit. Then glue the foam to the inside of the case.
How well does the amp portion of the m9xx drive planars like the 400i or 400s.
It's an amazing pair with the HE400i.
Theres a sale on the 400i and 400s which one you think i should shoot for?
Also its more amazing than out of your lyr?
What is the price of the 400s? I see the 400i sale at $299 from a few sellers. He 400i is better IMHO, especially since the difference in openness and soundstage seems to have gone away with the new driver design on the 400i. So if they're anywhere close in price I'd go with the 400i
I don't have the lyr any longer, I sold it when I got the m9XX if that tells you anything. To me, the Lyr is a great, versatile amp, in that you can make it solid state (LISST) or tube, low or high gain. It's something of a shape shifter. However, I don't think any configuration I tried sounded quite as good with the HE400i (or any of my other headphones) as the m9XX did.
If I had to rank the combos I tried with the HE400i related to the Lyr and m9XX:
1) m9XX
2) bifrost4490 -> Lyr low gain solid state
3) m9XX (DAC only, at 90 volume, which is supposedly the full line level output to use from the RCAs if you're using the m9XX as a DAC only) -> Lyr low gain solid state
The Lyr is an incredible amp if you have a lot of headphones with very different power needs. All my current headphones however sound best out of an ultra-low impedance solid state amp, and I think the m9XX is about as good as you can buy in that scenario.
That being said, I did prefer the bifrost4490 -> Lyr with my HD650s.
Both the 400i and 400s are $300 on amazon atm. Found it off slickdeals.
It seems 400s is selling better probably due to innerfidelity.
$299 is the HE400s normal price. The HE400i is normally $499, but has seen a series of sales recently. I've never seen anybody who has heard both who thinks the HE400s is better. Some say they're different enough to own both, but seriously don't think I've seen a single review calling the 400s better. Plus most of the people who liked the 400s as much felt that way because the 400s used to sound more open, due to not having a backplate, which the 400i now doesn't have a backplate either. So you get the benefit of the HE400i 's better bass, better build quality (cups are better plastic and grills are metal on the 400i), greater detail and more accurate imaging. As far as I can tell Innerfidelity simply never reviewed the HE400i. Yes, Tyll does love the HE400s. The HE400i is a better headphone.
