ive heard a rumor in Taperssection.com - Index that some think that the older M901 sounds better than the newer M902 (and one source is very highly regarded)? wondering if anybody here has any experience testing both out side by side? i thought they improved the DAC chip and left the AMP alone so how can this really be?

I would like to know too. I recently acquired an M901 and am blown away by how good it sounds for a 10+ year old DAC. Call me deaf but sometimes I prefer those late 90's dac chips with a good analog output stage over a lot of the newer dacs with a weak analog output stage.
